|
Since the original announcement of the intention to establish the IMRCs in 2000, there has been a recognition of the need to broaden the scope of Innovative Manufacturing research applied to innovation in the healthcare sector. Background work has been carried out by Oliver Wells and EPSRC APMs (Andy Davies and Lee Bartlett) in support of establishing the agenda for such a research group. This initial work has identified some vital areas for research, and some of the best academic institutions to undertake such work.There is now a need to consolidate the interested parties into an effective research collaboration; to formalise this background work into a comprehensive set of research themes and initial work packages; and finally to assemble a full proposal for a new virtual IMRC to EPSRC. This will involve organising a series of meetings between research partners and users of the outcomes, and two major workshops to establish the content and location of the constituent elements of the research programme for the emerging research consortium.This proposal is for network funding to support a core team in the next phase of stakeholder consultation and consortium building.
