Summary on Grant Application Form |
Techniques for assessing the strength, permeation and diffusion properties of concrete on site or in the laboratory have been developed at Queen's University/Heriot Watt University and there is a great opportunity for this UK technology to be adapted/translated for use in China. The Chinese Government has recognised the need to monitor the performance of concrete as their relatively recently constructed infrastructure is showing signs of deterioration. NERC-DRIB which has responsibility for this have been in contact with researchers at Queen's Unviersity and Professor Long has visited researchers in Tsinghua University, Beijing in June 2004 and met with Prof. Xu Kwangdi, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering which is keen to expand links with the UK.More specifically to jointly co-ordinate a research programme so that UK durability expertise can influence future practice in China.
