Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed activity will expand on considerable experience reacting to requests for television and radio interviews and comments to journalists about my research and issues relating to the science of speech, singing, music, acoustics, psychoacoustics and forensic audio. This expansion will be in the form of proactive activity to create items for the scientific press and broadcasters primarily in the area of the many aspects human voice in terms of its role, diversity and future in a technological age. In addition, a popular science book in the area will be written, and a web site will be uninitiated and kept up-to-date as the Fellowship proceeds. Apart from providing further information about the progress of the work, the web site will form a key focus for an impact evaluation, which itself will feedback its findings into the planning process. Support will be available from practised press officers, an expert project evaluator, as well as technicians and administrators as required to enable activities to proceed in a professional manner. Our voices are important to us all; the more said about them the better.
