Summary on Grant Application Form
The efficient production of medicinal products relies on synthetic chemistry and the chemist to devise new methods for the construction of biologically important molecules. In nature, many important potential drug substances occur with diverse structural arrays and hence the development of mild, non poisonous and efficient methods and building blocks which allow the construction of these molecules is of paramount importance. This proposal is concerned with the preparation of chemicals containing a zinc atom which we will develop into a very useful tool for construction of the many diverse chemicals found in nature. The methods used will be of low toxicity and environmentally friendly.
