Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Supergen Consortium on Biological Fuel Cells is a key theme in the SUPERGEN5 initiative under the EPSRC Infrastructure and Environment programme, and is intended to address aspects of the following key areas: The evolution of alternative energy carriers, conversion technologies and generation systems. The sustainable and efficient generation of electrical power from carbon-neutral generation systems. Aspects to be considered in moving for stepwise advance in the Consortium's target area include: New, optimised, inexpensive materials for efficient transfer of energy from biological systems Stability, longlife and resistance to chemical poisons A step change in achievable power Modelling of the processes involved and understanding mechanisms Training of future scientists in the target area Demonstration of biological fuel cell technology
