Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal seeks funding for advanced prototype production equipment for research into devices for radio frequency and microwave communications applications. The applications include microwave circuits and antennas which are significantly reduced in size and/or enhanced in performance by adding new printable patterns. The size and accuracy of the pattern features require very fine detail which is difficult to create without specialist light imaging and chemical etching processes. The new process will allow for a rapid advancement in new types of base station antennas, smaller mobile phones, improved isolation of mobile phone radiation from user's bodies, improved use of the available radio frequency spectrum, longer battery life in handset devices (mobiles, PDA's, Ultra Wide Band devices), improved atmospheric monitoring systems for weather and global warming monitoring and wireless broadband services to the home.
