Summary on Grant Application Form |
Magnetic monopoles have been shown to exist in various gauge theories that describe the fundamental particles of nature. Numerical techniques exist for constructing these solutions, yet despite extensive and profound theoretical studies very few analytical formulae exist describing exact solutions. `Integrable systems' is an allied mathematical field that has developed techniques (over several centuries) for providing exact solutions of suitable equations. We propose to push as far as possible the techniques of integrable systems to make effectivethe construction of magnetic monopoles. We aim to construct new exact solutions.
