This project investigates the viability of commercializing assisted free-hand ultrasound (AFUSON) technology based on research developed in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. Potential applications of the products are in the area of cancer of the breast, prostate and skin.Work covered in the project includesprotecting the IP and developing the technology further,establishing opinion on the technology from a wider clinical community than has been done to-date,assessing the market thoroughly for most advantageous commercialization pathways,gauging medical device regulations relevant to the technology,training the lead researcher in business management for leading development in a new spin-out, and, preparing a preliminary business plan.
