Summary on Grant Application Form |
The University of Reading offers several EPSRC DTP funded PhD studentships every year.
We provide doctoral supervision across a range of areas within the EPSRC remit including:
Mathematical Sciences, Environmental Science & Meteorology (including Atmospheric
Physics), Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, Architecture and Psychology. We also co-host the EPSRC-funded CDT Mathematics of Planet Earth.
Reading's new research strategy increasingly enables research to connect across different disciplines to address real-world problems, which provides EPSRC DTP students with increasing opportunity to work across thriving and well-supported multi-disciplinary environments. Our allocation of studentships is determined by a competitive process each year. Some DTP funded projects will provide opportunities in what is often called "pure" scientific endeavour, but many will fall under our key priority themes of Environment, Food and Health and/or involve close collaboration with an industry partner.
All of our doctoral students receive supervision from outstanding researchers and benefit from wide-ranging opportunities for training through the Reading Researcher Development Programme, provided by our Graduate School. The Graduate School is a community of over 1,900 PhD researchers, providing students with opportunities to gain vital skills, learn from others, and participate in a regular programme of events designed for PhD students. Where appropriate, students will also benefit from involvement in elements within our RCUK-funded CDT and DTP themed programmes.
Our EPSRC DTP studentship opportunities for October 2018 will be advertised from Spring 2018 on www.jobs.ac.uk, on FindaPhD.com and on our Graduate School website at www.reading.ac.uk/graduateschool.
