Summary on Grant Application Form |
In structural applications the behaviour of the surfaces of discontinuous metal matrix composites are becoming important for economic service life. This programme provides a fundamental study of the influence of mechanical and chemical treatment, coating and painting on the corrosion, fretting, wear and fatigue performance of a range of composites (largely aluminium-based) with different types, volume fractions, shapes and sizes of reinforcing particle.
