Summary on Grant Application Form |
We wish to use non-contact generation and detection of ultrasound to measure the liquid fraction within part solid alloys. The programme entails the determination of the optimum ultrasonic generation and detection methods using either pulsed lasers or EMATs, the selection of the appropriate ultrasonic parameter and experiments on aluminium alloys up to 600C and steels beyond 1200C.
