Summary on Grant Application Form |
The main objective of this joint programme of research is to identify the key molecular structural features responsible for the formation and properties of electro-chiral liquid crystal phases. This will involve synthesis (HULL) and phase characterisation of model compounds (HULL), measurement and theoretical interpretation of electro-chiral properties (SHEFFIELD) and molecular modelling of chiral molecules and their interactions (SHEFFIELD and HULL).
