Summary on Grant Application Form |
To understand the factors controlling brittleness and ductility and in particular the brittle-ductile transition of intermetallics such as Ti aluminides and NiAlX, for high temperature applications, and to suggest alloy modifications and processing to improve ductility. A combined experimental and theoretical approach will be used. The first objective is to set up a facility for the growth of single crystals.
