Summary on Grant Application Form |
To develop and evaluate intelligent network bandwidth algorithms for the Fibre Distributed Data Interface - II (FDDI-II) networks to effectively and efficiently use the network resources in a distributed interactive multimedia application environment, using simulation techniques.Progress:The project has developed a number of (parameterised) multimedia traffic patterns based on real-world, hypothetical, and artificial scenarios, and has programmed these into an OPNET simulation of FDDI-II networks. A range of bandwidth allocation algorithms have been developed and programmed into the simulation, and evaluation criteria have been determined. The project is in its final phase of running the simulation with various combinations of traffic pattern and algorithm to provide an evaluation of the different algorithms.
