Summary on Grant Application Form |
The objectives of the research are to study the design of continuous and batch processes as used specifically in surface engineering systems carries out under vacuum conditions. The work also involves the development of generic rules applicable to other processing systems. The project includes a study of market requirements (throughput and cost objectives), appraisal of sealing systems and load locks, process feature designs (e.g. plasma and heating systems, vapour sources, chambers and pumping systems), as well as considerations for equipment modularisation and design optimisation.
