Summary on Grant Application Form |
To set up an HREELS system of unique high resolution for the study of the adsorption and subsequent photochemical decomposition of organometallic molecules adsorbed on semiconductor surfaces. By monitoring HREEL spectra after irradiation with UV light of different wavelengths, it will be possible to characterise the adsorbed fragments and elucidate the different photo-induced mechanisms (adsorbate absorption, photogenerated free carriers substrate heating) which are believed to operate at the gas-solid interface.
