Summary on Grant Application Form |
To investigate the interaction of shock-waves with turbulent premixed flames, with a view to understanding the fundamentals of the baroclinic effect and consequent strong vorticity production. In summary the aims are:1.To analytically model very short lengthscale pressure interactions withcurved laminar flames.2.To accurately predict the transverse acceleration created when a shockwave passes through.3. To model numerically the early stages of a shock wave passing throughan already turbulent premixed flame by using the results of (1) and (2) on a pdf of flamelet size to predict a consequent pdf of vorticity production.
