Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed research will seek to identify the mechanisms of material removal and relate them to the grinding process and the quality of the surface finish. Special emphasis will be placed on finding the method of controlling the material removal in the grinding process. The surface chemistry, the formation of surface films and the reaction products during grinding will also be of major importance. The findings of the research should provide sufficient insight into the accelerated grinding process of ceramics and help to elaborate a method which could be practically utilised.
