To provide an increased understanding, through modelling and experimental verification, of heat flow in laser soldered surface mounted devices during the soldering operation.The design/integration of the complete pick-place-solder process using a specially developed laser delivery system.Demonstration of the applicability of semiconductor lasers to the soldering of very high pin count packages.
