Summary on Grant Application Form
It is proposed to study a number of problems associated with III-V and II-VI compound semiconductors where the ability to perform microscopic luminescence experiments at low temperatures by PL or CL will play a critical role in arriving at new understanding. The problems to be studied include dislocation luminescence, quantum-wires and quantum-dots. In addition, the ability to form monochromatic images in selected emission lines will be used as an aid to understand alloy composition variations, strain effects, variations of quantum-well widths and luminescence effects associated with stacking faults, twins, precipitates, inclusions and other extended defects in epitaxial layers.
