Summary on Grant Application Form
Degenerate and nondegenerate four-wave mixing will be used to probe the nonlinear coherent response of GaAs quantum wells in a magnetic field. The time-domain information from quantum beating will be supplemented with frequency domain cw and non-degenerate four-wave mixing spectra to give detailed tests of models of magneto-excitons and biexcitons. Resonant magneto-Raman scattering will be used to probe the landau level structure of bulk InP and GaAs, and GaAs quantum wells. The mechanism of multi-phonon scattering will be investigated by means of high resolution Raman spectroscopy.
