Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposal is to use stable isotope solid state NMR as a probe of the interface between fibres and polymer matrices developed at Surrey. These materials have greatly increased toughness but the mechanism of this is as yet unclear. The combination of NMR, material testing and synthesis with computer modelling will permit an in depth investigation of what is still a relatively unexplored area of polymer chemistry.
