Summary on Grant Application Form |
The programme will consist of a series of laboratory based experiments linked with a field exposure experiment. Several parameters which are considered to have a major effect on preservative efficacy against decay fungi will be studied in the laboratory and their effect on preservative performance will be assessed. The field study will provide reference material to verify that effects observed in the laboratory also occur under such natural exposure conditions, as well as a source of micro-organisms which may have a role in preservative detoxification. The findings will provide a basis for the development of novel preservative systems and the evolution of test methodology.
