Summary on Grant Application Form
Our programme will investigate fundamental electronic processes in low-dimensional semiconductors using advanced optical techniques. Ultrafast (fs) coherent carrier dynamics in quasi 2D, ID and OD structures will be studied using time-resolved absorption, Raman and four-wave mixing techniques. Strongly correlated electron states - the fractional Quantum Hall Effect and the electron solid - will be investigated using ultra-low temperature photoluminescence, photoluminescence excitation and inelastic light scattering. Electron dynamics will be studied in wide band gap semiconductors which show very strong electron-phonon coupling.
