Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal brings together the wide experience of the Centre for Research on Environmental Systems (CRES), in the field of non stationary time series analysis and adaptive forecasting, with that of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory's Energy Research Unit (ERU), and its background in the modelling of electricity supply systems. In particular, it aims to extend recent CRES research on the development of a medium-term adaptive gas load forecasting system for British Gas Ltd. and the RAL research on electricity demand prediction, carried out as part of a recently completed SERC project. The aim of the research is to apply recent advances in recursive time-series analysis theory to adaptive electricity load forecasting algorithms which take account of demand side management (DSM) techniques, and to develop and evaluate software for their implementation.
