1.To extend the process in order to produce sialon coated silicon nitride membranes suitable for ultrafiltration, with average pore sizes in the range 10-3 to 10 -1 m. 2. To produce sufficient 38mm diameter disks and 40x20mm rectangular sialon membrane coated silicon nitride micro/ultra-filters for: a) characterisation with respect to porosity, pore size, permeability, and chemical/mechanical integrity, b) filtration trials using a computer controlled crossflow filter rig, filtering a range molecular and colloidal components from aqueous feeds, and c) characterisation of the tested filters to determine any changes in structure etc.
