Summary on Grant Application Form |
The various technical problems, generic to construction of a molecular device based on a self-assembled ion-channel peptide, incorporated into an appropriate bilayer, will be addressed. These include (i) peptide design and synthesis (ii) synthesis of anchors for attachment of bilayers to surfaces (iii) attachment of bilayers incorporating the peptide channels to gold surfaces and monitoring the quality of the surfaces (iv) fabrication and testing of devices on the above.
