Summary on Grant Application Form
A micro- and macroscale modelling technique is proposed to study the features which affect the mechanical properties of an Al/SiCp MMC during forming processes. Deformation modelling techniques will be used to characterise the thermomechanical processing at both micro- and macro- levels. These process descriptions will be combined with models for segregation and precipitation at the interface boundary to predict the nature and properties of the matrix-reinforcement interface. These combined approaches will then be utilised to forecast the mechanical properties of the tube product as a function of thermomechanical treatment.
