Summary on Grant Application Form |
The purpose of this project is to assess the effectiveness of coal as a reburn fuel and to provide a better understanding of the fundamentals of the reburning process for NOx reduction. Experimental work using power station pulverised coast (including microfine) will be conducted using a pilot-scale 200 kw facility and drop-tube reactor for practical trials and characterisation respectively. The operating parameters for optimum reburning conditions (reburn fuel ratio, primary zone NOx emission, stoichiometry of primary zone, residence time and oxygen level) will be investigated and the influence of coal type and properties (volatile matter, particle size, rank, ash, fuel N and S content) on reburn performance established.
