Recently developed aniostropic material modelling software (SERC award GR/F/60397) is more accurate than previous models used by other international research groups, because these models are based on the assumption the magnetic flow density B and magnetic field H are always colinear. Recent experimental research carried out at the Wolfson Centre (and confirmed in Japan) shows that the angle between the magnetic flux density B and the magnetic field H can be as large as 60 deg in anisotropic electrical steel sheets. The negligence of this angle may result in considerable errors in some finite element analysis using a novel approach, which will take into consideration the variation of spacial angle between B and H. Also, with this new model, the existing finite element anisotropic modelling package will be improved in order to obtain more accurate analysis results which will be compared with experimental data.
