Summary on Grant Application Form |
Surface magnetic fields can be detected by magneto resistive sensors. It is proposed to use purpose designed miniature M R Sensors to scan the surface of selected steel samples in order to attempt to detect domain structures and grain boundaries. It is hoped to be able to determine the effect of various surface defects on the detected domain structures. A multiple channel/head system will be designed, tested and evaluated. It is hoped to observe surface topology using the proposed multiple head.
