Summary on Grant Application Form |
(1) The aim of this project is to build a design environment in which it will be possible to parameterise the geometry of a family of general designs, than take some initial design from that family and automatically optimise its shape to improve its physical properties in order to meet specified design goals. (2) The aim of this project is to create a flexible design environment in which it will be possible to fully understand the complex low (non-zero) Reynolds number fluid dynamics associated with the deposition of a uniform, thin layer or layers of liquid onto a moving web or substrata. The fluids involved are incompressible, not necessarily Newtonian and their behaviour is heavily dependent on the constraining coating geometry.
