Summary on Grant Application Form |
It is intended to prepare optically pure amino acid and peptide derived nornornene monomers suitable for ring opening metathesis polymerisation. Polymerisation will give a homochiral 'living' polymer with a narrow molecular weight distribution and highly ordered molecular architecture. By variation of the monomer units and polymerisation conditions (initiator/monomer ratio, initiator structure) it will be possible to 'design in' structural features into the polymer. The structures of the polymers will be investigated by a variety of analytical methods.
