|
The specific objectives of the project can be summarised as follows:To research the optimum and practical structure of an integrated design approach for small/medium sized, discrete, advanced manufacturing systems to be implemented in a Computer Aided Manufacturing Systems Design (CAMSD) framework. Involving research into the best suitable modelling techniques for manufacturing systems.To carry out industrial case-studies for the analysis of requirements for a prototype CAMSD framework and to identify a possible structure of a manufacturing systems design approach suitable for implementing into such a framework.To carry out research into enabling information technologies for CASMD, including object oriented environments/methods/tools, data-exchange standards and modelling techniques.To contribute to the exploitation and future definition of the conceptual and technical requirements of such an integrated design framework.
