|
The stereochemistry of the hydroxymethyliazolium species formed by decarboxylation by pyruvate decarboxylase of glyoxylate will be studied. Acyloin formation catalysed by this enzyme will also be studied. X-ray structure determination of acetolactate decarboxylase will be investigated. Stereo-chemical studies of substrate and product conversions will be carried out.
