Summary on Grant Application Form |
The purpose of the research is to determine whether relatively simple external modifications can be made to commercial zeolite adsorbent pellets in order to render them sufficiently rugged for use in continuous steady state fluidised bed applications without loss of adsorptive performance. The proposed technique involves coating the pellets with an abrasion-resistant polymeric membrane. The tailored zeolites will be compared with the virgin material in terms of physical and adsorption characteristics and will be tested in a fluidised bed apparatus used to separate linear from branched paraffins and p-xylene from other C8 aromatics.
