Summary on Grant Application Form
A model of a Granular Magnetic Solid will be developed. The model will have a variable microstructure and incorporate a particle sizxe distribution. Intergranular magnetostatic and exchange interactions will be taken into account. The model will take into account magnetisation reversal by thermal activation processes and will be capable of simulating finite temperature effects including slow dynamics. The model will be used to study the bulk magnetic behaviour of a GMS, including calculations of remanence curves to characterise interaction effects. The effects of interactions or the giant magnetoresistance will also be investigated.
