Summary on Grant Application Form |
QFT is a control system deisng technique which has been developed over a number of years, promarily by Horowitz. It is used to design controllers with significant parameter uncertainty. Unlike some other robust control design techniques, eg H(infinity sign), QFT has not at any time recieved detailed mathematical analysis of its basics. This has led to a number of 'ad hoc' design rules being used which are not explicitly evident in the design procedures. This project aims to examine the mathematical justification for the current QFT design procedure and to produce a new, mathematically sound, formulation of QFT. Design guidelines for the use of this new methodology will also be produced. The porject will then examine the links between QFT and other robust control design techniques, particularly H(infinity sign). Case study applications of QFT will then be undertaken
