Summary on Grant Application Form |
Adaptive wall test sections have already demonstrated superior control of the flow and reduced wall interference in transonic testing compared with conventional ventilated test sections. They now need to be brought to a production-aerodynamic state by improving productivity. The European aeronautical research cooperative body GARTEUR is proposing to reinforce the evidence of superiority and to address the issue of productivity by means of shared development work between the UK, Germany, France and Holland. The University of Southampton will be a major contributor through theoretical and experimental activities already funded. this request to the SERC travel fund is to cover the additional cost of travel to the various GARTEUR meetings mostly in countries outside the UK.
