Summary on Grant Application Form |
To investigate the interaction between microgel particles and free polymer in solution, for both non-aqueous and aqueous systems. This involves the preparation and characterisation of novel, model microgel particles, and also homopolymers of controlled M.W. the absorption/depletion behaviour of the polymers with respect to the microgel particles will be investigated, as will any depletion flocculation observed. The effect of the free polymer on the size of the microgel particles will be investigated and the data correlated with a new theory.
