Summary on Grant Application Form |
We propose to devleop a multi pass rheometer that can handle material in both the semi solid and liquid states. The design would be based on our liquid prototype. The new multi pass rheometer would be evaluated by following the changes in rheology and processing behaviour of (a) Paraffin wax, (b) Standard polyethylene, (c) Ultra high molecular mass polythylene, within a temperature window near the melting point of each material. Results would be compared with a range of existing rheological measuring techniques and the cold extrusion process evaluated as an alternative to melt processing.
