Summary on Grant Application Form |
The programme of work is to build on existing activity in the high resolution imaging of magnetic materials with emphasis on thin film, multilayered and magnetostrictive materials in which the properties are influenced by surface and interface structures. Atomic and magnetic force microscopes will be used to study surface topography and magnetic domain structures and the results will be correlated with fabrication and growth conditions and surface modifications caused by magnetic, magneto-mechanical and thermal treatments.
