Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposal is for field seismic geophysical testing to be carried out at the Bothkennar Site. The objectives of the research are two-fold:- to compare Gmax values obtained from field geophysical techniques with the values of small-strain stiffness previously determined on high-quality samples in the laboratory, by Hopper and Smith- to develop and test a high-energy vibrator to allow surface-wave geophysics to achieve reasonable depths of penetration in low-stiffness soils, and to compare the results of this with the Spectral Analysis of Surface Wave Analysis from 'cultural' noise.
