Summary on Grant Application Form |
The programme will extend techniques for calculating invariants of 4-manifolds (both Algebro-Geometric and Differential Geometric) and apply these to a systematic study of examples. Particular attention will be given to Symplectic 4-Manifolds, and a study of the surfaces which can be embedded in them. Applications of Floer Homology groups to Symplectic Geometry will be investigated, particularly in examples arising from moduli spaces of flat connection over surfaces.
