Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this research project will be:1. To capitalise upon recent experimental observations, relating to the manner in which two diphenyl ethers, each containing NHCH2 CH2Y side arms in ortho positions, on dilithiation self-assemble to form an 'adamantanoid' Li4O2N4 core with orthogonally-disposed ligands in order.2. To construct, by template-directed synthesis using appropriate cyclic and acyclic ligands, a whole new range of catenanes, rotaxanes, knots, and double helicates, based on the 'adamantoid' Li4O2N4 core.
