Liquid 4He, 3He and mixture films on Cs gives us a new opportunity to study quantum films in two dimensions. In our present grant we have shown that we can prepare surfaces of Cs that are particularly non-wetted by 4He, and we have developed a very sensitive flow measuring technique. Having proved these techniques we now propose to study the statics and dynamics of 3He and 3He-4He mixtures on Cs. The static properties include the prewetting jumps predicted for 3He and the disposition of 3He and 4He in thin films on Cs and their reentrant wetting, Once these properties have been established we shall investigate the flow of these films and aim to determine whether the localised layers flow relatively independently of each other.
