Summary on Grant Application Form
The overall aim of the research is to develop novel fuzzy-controllers and a novel voltage source inverter for a high dynamic performance, fully digital, speed-sensorless drive to achieve optimal robust control using an 'off-the-shelf' induction motor. The main tasks are: design, simulation and real-time implementation of both fuzzy and fuzzified controllers; comparison with conventional controllers; development of error and incremental error fuzzy controllers; development of new structures of fuzzy controllers; investigation of multiple, interacting fuzzy controllers; establishment of a 'tuned', 'best rules' rule base; investigation of integer arithmetic implementations; investigation of stability.A novel PWM modulator, which can be used in all operation modes (transient and steady state) of ac drives will also be developed. The tasks will include: theoretical verification, analysis and comparison with other PWM techniques, software development for simulation, microprocessor implementation and testing, integration into final drive.
