To investigate and compare the factors that control the structure and growth of ceramic nano clusters: i) in vacuo, ii) on surfaces and iii) embedded in a host material. Further development of simple potential forms that will realistically model the clusters as they evolve between ordered and disordered structures. Interface existing simulation and quantum cluster codes. Applications will be made to NaCl, Mg0, Zn0, Ti02 and Al203.
