Summary on Grant Application Form |
Determination of three dimensional data from images is of central importance in the field of machine vision. One of the most direct ways of achieving this from image data is stereo vision. However, to date stereo vision algorithms have not generally been considered robust enough for commercial exploitation. We intend to show that a robust fixed frame stereo system can be developed which can provide solutions to a wide range of industrial problems. We then intend to investigate how robustness may be improved by making use of constraints present in temporal sequences. In addition, it is our intention to deliver such a system for commercial exploitation at the culmination of this project.
