Summary on Grant Application Form |
During the first six months the RA will become familiar with the inverse modelling methodologies developed under current EPSRC funding by the Applicant. During this time the RA will also become familiar with the hydrodynamics of flows around coastal structures. During the next six months the RA will apply the inverse method to coastal hydraulics and visit the CRF and/or Elmer sites. During the next nine months the RA will apply the modelling method to measurements taken in the CRF and at Elmer in order to assist the Coastal Structures Group with the interpretation of the data. The final three months will be used to consolidate and report the findings and methodology. The important aspect of the programme is to develop and apply an analysis method (inverse model), which will be able directly to incorporate measurements obtained on a relatively sparse grid, in order to develop representations of the flows in a detailed grid. The computed flows will satisfy as nearly as possible the governing equations whilst remaining close to the measurements.
